Welcome to the latest edition of the TeachingEnglish newsletter!

The IATEFL 2015 conference has now finished but you can watch recordings of many of the talks and all the interviews on our IATEFL Online conference website.

This week we have a new video tip, which revisits Winnie Pang's very young learner class at the end of their school year to see how the students have developed.

For the classroom, we have a great lesson plan aimed at helping students prepare for exams.

We also have our latest publication, which looks at English language teaching in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Our featured article looks at the issue of homework and young learners and we also have a  blog post by David Petrie, who looks at the need to adapt the activities in our coursebooks and offers a useful chart to help us with the process.

We hope you find these useful.

Homework is generally part of any English course and is set with the aim of helping children absorb and build on work done in class and to extend their learning time. Video tips - Last class with very young learners

  newsletter-icontrain

In May 2014 we published a video of Winnie Pang during her first class with a group of very young learners. In this video, we meet Winnie and her class again at the end of the school year.

In this video, Winnie talks about how far the students have come in their development and we see how their language skills and confidence have improved over the course of the year. There are also interviews with the parents of the children, talking about the importance of language learning.

Lesson plan - Weird musems

  TeachingEnglishTry

If you are currently preparing your students for the Cambridge First Certificate exam, this lesson plan is for you.

In this lesson students practise word building in preparation for part 3 of the Use of English test in the FCE exam. Through a series of activities students will become more aware of word 'families', enabling them to do the Use of English (part 3) more successfully.
