This week we have all the action for E-merging Forum 5. If you weren't able to catch it online, you can still read the blogs and watch the video recordings.

Elt-training is a web site that aims to provide training support for trainee and novice English language teachers as well as more experienced teachers, too. There are short video films about wide-ranging topics. For example recent films have been about 'Setting up activities', 'Using authentic materials' and 'Grammar teaching'. A new video is published every month. The films are freely accessible on the website and users can also watch previous films from the large archive.

TIRF - 2015 Doctoral Dissertation Grants (DDG) competition
                                       

The International Research Foundation for English Language Education (TIRF) is pleased to announce its 2015 Doctoral Dissertation Grants (DDG) competition. In 2015 the British Council will be partnering with TIRF for the TIRF-British Council DDG. Grants of up to US $5,000 will be made to successful applicants investigating a variety of topics.

Drawing dictation

In this lesson students will learn how to use prepositions of place correctly when they are describing a picture. First the students give the teacher a drawing dictation as a whole class. Then they work in small groups to give drawing dictations to each other. Teachers can adapt the level of this activity by making the language more or less complex. This core language will be useful for oral exams in which students have to describe or compare pictures.
