| | This lesson is based on a timeline of the First World War, produced by the Imperial War Museum in London. Students will look at a map and some pictures from the First World War and through discussion they will build up their predictions about that period. They will then move on to practise their reading skills in a jigsaw reading on the key events of the First World War. This lesson also focuses on war-related vocabulary and gives students the opportunity to use these expressions productively in a writing task. Read more |

| This volume is a compilation of some select presentations made at the fourth International Teacher Educator Conference on the theme 'Innovation in English Language Teacher Education' held at Hyderabad, India on 21-23 February 2014. The collection of papers in this publication reflects the diverse backgrounds, contexts and perspectives assembled at the conference. One of the most notable features of many of the papers is that they are based on bottom-up, grass roots research conducted by practitioners in their own classroom contexts. Read more

| The British Council is pleased to announce its 2015 call for research proposals for the ELT Research Awards scheme. Through this scheme we aim to facilitate the production of innovative research to benefit the learning and teaching of English throughout the world by co-funding a number of partnership awards. Resulting articles will be published as part of the British Council Research Papers series online. The deadline for the 7th round of applications is 20th April 2015. Read more |
