| | | | | | | | | Welcome to the latest edition of the TeachingEnglish newsletter! This week we have a slightly unplugged theme to the newsletter. We have an article and a series of activities by Stuart Wiffin on teaching unplugged and an article by Tom Spain and Steve Muir on combining Dogme with technology.
From the EnglishAgenda website, we have information about the shortlist for the upcoming ELTons awards and there is also an update on how you can follow the IATEFL conference online. We have several new teaching resources in our Special events section to commemorate the anniversary of the start of the First World War and more resources celebrating the life of Shakespeare. For more teaching resources, we have the monthly lesson plan celebrating Earth hour.
Finally, if you are working with learners who have special educational needs, we have news of a new network being set up by the IATEFL YLTSIG to share ideas and resources. We hope you find these useful. Best wishes Paul TeachingEnglish Team | British Council | BBC | | |

 | | | | Monthly lesson plan - Earth Hour | | | | | | | Our regular monthly lesson plan for March looks at Earth Hour. Earth Hour is an annual event organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature and our monthly lesson plan looks at this event in more detail. Students watch a promotional video for Earth Hour, read a text about Earth Hour in the UK, and talk about issues related to the topic as well as listening to a song as an extension activity. | | | | | The ELTons, sponsored by Cambridge English, are the only international awards that recognise and celebrate innovation in the field of English language teaching.
