This week we celebrate 10 years of BritLit with an article by Fitch O'Connell and a brand new kit - Joha and the End of the World!

Fitch O'Connell reflects on 10 years of BritLit and how it has become a global resource offering teachers access to literature materials for the classroom.

Britlit 10th Anniversary kit: Joha and the End of the World

This BritLit kit, written to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the project, is the first of what we hope will be many tales taken from the traditional and given a modern makeover. Joha is a traditional figure in many North African folk tales, and frequently represents a somewhat contradictory figure - he can be fun, simple, intelligent, cunning, naïve and lucky, often all within the same story.
 
Interview the experts

Three students sit in a line at the front of the class. They are the experts, but they don't know what they are experts about. The rest of the class choose the area of expertise - e.g. cooking, car maintenance, trees. The other students then ask the experts questions and the experts answer them. Each expert uses only one word at a time.
