Welcome back!

This week in the newsletter we have the latest in our series of video tips. In this one Vikki looks at ways you can use flashcards in your classrooms to help younger learners. We also have the second in our series of featured blogs which this month features 'language moments' by Dale Coulter.

There's a lesson for you to try with teenagers or adults that looks at the sport of gymnastics and there's an article from the archives which examines the differences between traditional grammar teaching and using a more 'lexicalised' approach.

Finally one of our readers is new to teaching and would appreciate any help you can give them about how to teach absolute beginners.

Best wishes

Duncan

Featured blog of the month
It's time to announce the second TeachingEnglish featured blog post! This month, our featured post is by Dale Coulter, who's based in Italy. It's a well written 'lesson skeleton' on asking questions, not too long/too short - and easy for a teacher to follow and use in their own class. Why not have a look and give it a try in one of your lessons?

 Absolute beginners

Would anybody be kind enough to point me in the right direction. I do not have teaching experience but have been asked to help a friend to learn English. I thought I would go for a walk with her and have simple conversations about our surroundings, but she doesn't understand the simplest of sentences, so we have decided to start from scratch.
