Welcome to another TeachingEnglish newsletter. This week we're very pleased to welcome a new Guest Writer to the site, Adrian Underhill. Adrian is perhaps best known for his classic text on pronunciation 'Sound Foundations' and in his first article he asks whether pronunciation is the poor relation of language teaching. Why not let him know what you think by commenting on the article.

Also this week we have a new posting by our editor Rob Lewis on his first experiences of presenting a 'webinar' and an article highlighting some new things to try on our sister site LearnEnglish Kids. There's plenty of contributions from readers too including some ideas on how to have fun with the present simple, a reader request for help and there's a new poll asking whether pronunciation is a priority in your classroom. Why not let us know by casting your vote?

Best wishes,

Duncan

TeachingEnglish webinar

Last night I had my first experience of presenting a webinar. It ended up being rather enjoyable: I'd been worried about not being able to see my audience, as most presenters are the first time I suspect. However, thanks to the great support from Jürgen Wagner, the organiser, and a really receptive audience I didn't feel isolated, or as if I was just talking to myself in front of the computer screen.

Well, II have been entrusted to conduct a workshop for the students of grade 10 [IGCSE]. Can anybody give some suggestions to conduct a work shop for students who pursue IGCSE syllabus. I am sure that your suggestions would be greatly helpful to me.

Fun with simple present tense
With my grade 10 students, we are revising the simple present tense at the moment and while planning what I'll do, I listed some activities that I used in the previous years as warmers or fillers or follow-ups. I'll be happy if you also add your favourite Present Simple Tense activities here.

As well as letting us know your thoughts by commenting on the article why not let us know whether pronunciation is a priority in your classroom by taking part in this poll?
