back to school
Many children around the world are now back at school after the holidays. We asked our users to tell us about their schools in the Your Turn section of the site. As you would expect, we received a variety or positive and negative descriptions of their schools, which makes interesting reading. We also have seven new Kids Talk videos about school. If you know any children who would like to join our community, and practise their English by writing comments and short texts on our site they can register here
poetry competition 2010
We are pleased to announce this year's poetry competition in partnership with the Children's Poetry Bookshelf in the UK. This year's topic is 'home'. You can find all the information and the entry forms here.  If you are a teacher and would like ideas on how to get your students writing poems for the competition have a look at this article on our Teaching English site. You can also download the competition poster to display in your local school or library.

tips for teachers
This month we have some ideas for teachers who would like to take part in the poetry competition with their students. Next month we will have a tip for how to get the most out of the What's Your News? videos, so keep your eyes open for that on our Teaching English site. If you use any of the teaching tips please do let us know how the classes went. All feedback from teachers is valuable and we appreciate your comments.
