TeachingEnglish Teachers Welcome to this week's edition of the TeachingEnglish newsletter! This week we are happy to bring you news of a free, online course 'Dyslexia and foreign language teaching'. We also announce our new blog topics for April to June, and you can catch up on our featured posts from March. For the classroom, we have a speaking activity to wake up your sleepy learners and a couple of lesson plans to mark two special events, Easter and April Fool's Day.  Being English teachers in Gaza Over the last year, a small group of primary English teachers from Gaza have been working with a researcher to reflect on and discuss their professional identity as teachers. This is a panel discussion with the research participants, showcasing their perspectives on a number of questions. |

 Chocolate Tie in some of these activities to a lesson about Easter. Chocolate Easter eggs are a part of the Easter celebrations for most British people. In the lesson, students list their favourite sweet and savoury foods, take a quiz about chocoholics and do a simple reading task and a fun recipe dictation. Finally, they will invent their own new chocolate bar. |

|  April Fool's Day In this lesson students will learn about April Fool's Day in the UK. They will discuss whether they have a similar day in their country, read about attitudes to April Fool's Day in the UK, read about and then explain some famous April Fool's Day tricks and finally come up with their own trick to play on someone else. |

 ARM exercises: speaking activity to wake up a sleepy class This is a great way to start a lesson with a free-speaking activity. I call it 'ARM exercises' which is simply short for Accept, Reject or Modify statements. The activity can really stimulate discussion and the focus is very much on the students rather than the teacher. To round off the activity, finish with a short, whole-class feedback stage. |
