Join us on Tuesday 3 December at 15.00 UK time. | | | Intercultural resources pack for Latin America | This resource pack provides practical activities for teachers to be used in the classroom primarily in Latin America, although these can also be adapted to suit other international contexts, as a tool for understanding other cultures and promoting reflection in order to avoid cultural bias and challenge stereotypes. The pack represents the outcome of a project proposal started at the Hornby Summer School Brazil. | | | A.S Hornby Educational Trust scholarships | The A.S.Hornby Educational Trust scholarships are awarded every year to English language teachers from round the world to study for Masters in TESOL in the UK. Watch two brief videos of Hornby scholars talking about the impact of the scholarships on their lives, and their plans on how they support the teaching of English when they return home here. | | | Maria de la Paz Adelia Peña Clavel - 'Learning from each other—Teletándem an environment for enhancing autonomy' | The Mediateca, the self-access centre at the UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) implemented tandem methodology to offer learners a chance to practise and develop their speaking skills with speakers from foreign universities using telecommunication tools. In this IATEFL LASIG webinar on 18 November at 18.00 GMT, Maria will give a brief account of the tandem methodology, explain how they have implemented these sessions and what instruments and activities students use. Join the live event here. | | | English in Latin America: an examination of policy and priorities in seven countries | With the aim to support policy and programme development, this research provides an in-depth, holistic assessment of English language learning in each of seven Latin American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru. Free downloadable pdfs are available for each country here. | | | Blog topics for November and December 2019 | Our final blog topics for 2019 ask you to think about the challenges of teaching teenagers, a favourite group of students, a lesson that didn’t go as well as you had expected, and your experiences of teaching without a clear plan. Looking back over the last two months, there are several engaging and interesting posts, which looked at teaching grammar, teaching reading and writing, and some of the challenges or development opportunities ahead for the 2019/20 academic year. | | | TeachingEnglish training Every month we offer a 50% discount on one of our three-hour self-access training modules. | | British Council teacher community on Facebook | | | | | | | |
