Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights. Kids can read our Diwali story to find out more about this celebration which starts on 19 October.

HALLOWEEN!
Do you celebrate Halloween? Children can have fun with our Halloween word games, sing a skeleton song or try making banana ghost pops!

Our printable activities for Halloween include a worksheet, colouring page, flashcards and a skeleton craft.

Find all these activities and more in our Halloween topic!

OTHER SPECIAL DAYS
Are there any important older people in your child's life? The International Day of Older Persons is on 1 October and children can tell us about an older person that they know on our Old people Your turn or print our Elderly people worksheet.

World Cities Day is on 31 October and kids can watch a story or listen to a song about children in different cities around the world. Find more activities in our Towns and cities topic!

WORLD TEACHERS' DAY
Are you a teacher? World Teachers' Day is on 5 October and, to celebrate, teachers can join two special free webinars on our sister site, TeachingEnglish.

TeachingEnglish has lots of materials for teaching kids, and other age groups too! You can find activities, lesson plans, articles and more, as well as resources to help you develop as a teacher. Happy World Teachers' Day!
