LearnEnglish Kids Newsletter December 2014 Welcome to the latest LearnEnglish Kids newsletter. LEARNENGLISH KIDS: PLAYTIME APP! Who's ready for winter? Our LearnEnglish Kids: Playtime app is! Download the app to explore a winter monster village and watch your favourite English videos like Little Red Riding Hood and The bird king. The iOS app offers over 50 animated songs and stories to help children aged 6-11 years old learn English and build confidence in speaking. Watch videos together with your child and then play challenging games to improve spelling and understanding of words in the video. In the separate Parents' area, you can view your child's progress and buy new packs of videos or a full-access subscription.   HAPPY CHRISTMAS!  Christmas is celebrated in many places around the world, and kids can have fun and practise their English with lots of Christmas activities on LearnEnglish Kids. Listen to a boy talking about Christmas in our My favourite day - Christmas story, find out how Amy helps Santa in our Santa's little helper story, and sing along to our Santa, Santa, high in the sky song.  Older children can also write on the site and download printable worksheets on our Christmas Your turn, or they can write about another celebration they like on our Favourite day Your turn.  Teachers can find two special lesson plans on our sister site, TeachingEnglish, one for Christmas for very young learners and one about Christmas presents and decorations.  FUN WITH WINTER GAMES It's winter for many people and we have lots of winter games on LearnEnglish Kids for children to play.  Younger children can play our Winter clothes Paint it game or a Christmas find the pairs game. Older kids can try a Winter weather word game or a Christmas quiz. Hanukkah, a Jewish holiday also known as the Festival of Lights, starts on December 16th. Children can learn more about it with our Hanukkah make the sentences game.  ACTIVITIES TO PRINT If it's winter where you are, try these printable activities with your children at home or in class. They will love making our Christmas tree craft or our Snowman craft, and why not decorate the room with our Snowflake craft? We have lots more Christmas craft ideas too.  Teachers can use our Christmas flashcards and Toys flashcards to introduce Christmas vocabulary and play games in class. Parents can find out about using flashcards at home with their children in our Memory game video tip with extra game ideas.  Members of LearnEnglish Kids can download these printable activities for free!
