Welcome to the latest edition of the TeachingEnglish newsletter!

This week we have news of several events taking place over the next four weeks as part of our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) month.

We have a new blog post by Larry Ferlazzo, in which he looks at Enhanced Discovery Learning.

There are two new videos for you to watch. The first is a new 'Teacher talk' video, which looks at how to correct students' mistakes. The second is a recording from E-Merging Forum 4 of Rod Bolitho's presentation on the dimensions of Continuing Professional Development.

Finally, we have news about the forthcoming Image Conference in Cordoba, Spain and information about a free online course starting on 17 November.

We hope you find these useful.
Best wishes

Teacher talk is a series of videos featuring some of our TeachingEnglish Associates speaking about important teaching issues.

In this video, they give practical tips and strategies we can use to help our learners notice their own mistakes and encourage self-correction. Throughout the video, they provide a number of useful activities that can be used to help students in this area.

In this talk Rod Bolitho offers a comprehensive view of what constitutes CPD, and outlines the benefits such a perspective can offer to individual teachers, institutions and professional networks.

He establishes connections between CPD and reform, the management and implementation of change, with thinking skills and reflective practice. Rod also engages the audience in some reflective tasks and suggests some ways of making CPD work in practical terms, including advice for individuals, educational managers and policy makers.
