| | | | | | | | Welcome to the latest edition of the TeachingEnglish newsletter!
This week we have a great new article looking at the differences between task-based learning (TBL) and project-based learning (PBL). For the classroom, we have two new lesson plans. The first - 'Thinking time - a puzzle' is a motivating speaking activity for lower level learners, while 'Carnivores vs Herbivores' asks students to watch a short video with a number of follow-up activities. We have a series of new lesson plans for kids, which use online material from the LearnEnglish Kids website and a series of articles about teaching teens and lesson plans using the LearnEnglish Teens site. Finally, you can download our board games for use with your young learner classes. Enjoy! Paul TeachingEnglish Team | British Council | BBC | | |

For this reason, many teachers turn to more learner-centred approaches where the needs of the learner are central to the lesson content. Two such approaches are TBL (Task-Based Learning) and PBL (Project-Based Learning). Read more
| | | | | This lesson for teenagers and adults focuses on the difference between carnivores and herbivores. Students watch the video 'Triumph of the Herbivores', available from BBC Earth, about how herbivores escape being eaten by carnivores and then do one of the suggested follow-up activities. Why not try out 'The princess and the dragon'. Students watch the story, complete the comprehension activities, look at some lexis for fairy stories, and retell the story. Finally, they can do some extension work based on the story, writing and illustrating their own ending. Read more | |
