BritLit
The aim of BritLit is to help teachers from around the world to exploit English literature in the ELT classroom.

Welcome to another TeachingEnglish newsletter. This week we say thank you and goodbye to Rania Jabr and welcome to Fitch O'Connell. Fitch is the brains behind the Brit Lit section of the site and he'll be blogging over the coming weeks.

In other news we are pleased to announce the release of the first three LearnEnglish Facebook applications designed to help your learners practice their English. They are available now on the LearnEnglish Facebook page.

Also this week we have plenty for you to try in the classroom with a whole new lesson plan 'Rich!' and a new activity 'A theft in the hotel'. As ever we want to hear from you about your teaching experiences, especially about what teaching is like in your country. You can also lend a helping hand to one of our readers who thinks he has been too nice for too long, why not let him know what you think about going from 'nice guy' to 'strict guy'.

Best wishes,

It can be used with a range of levels as students drive the content, but they will have to think on their feet and use the language in real time as they can't prepare for what is going to happen.

Fitch O'Connell - biography
While many people - perhaps most - can trace their chosen careers along a fairly smooth line, possibly progressing from design to opportunity, maybe my journey can best be described as one taken by a nomad who, while appearing to be lost at times, always thought he knew where he was, even if he didn't know, or care, where he was going.

The makeover: from nice guy to strict guy
I am afraid that I have been the nice and patient teacher for too long, and we are getting towards the end of the semester. New house rules right away and repeat them at the beginning of the next semester or just new house rules the next semester. What are your thoughts on this?
