 Telephone wires
TeachingEnglishTryA sentence is whispered around the circle of students. The last student to receive the message either says it aloud or writes it on the board. This can be a fun way to introduce a topic and activate schema at the beginning of a class. For example, for a class on food, whisper the question, "What did you have for lunch today?" Equally, at the end of a class it can be a nice way to revise structures or vocabulary from the lesson.

Final comments about being a teacher
Teaching is the kind of job where learning and training never really end. One of the first lessons I learnt is that I don't always expect students to be the level I am told they are, and I make sure that my lessons can be modified/adjusted according to the students' true level and needs. Another lesson learnt is that it is impossible to anticipate every question.

Dealing with misbehaving students
Students behaving badly is nothing new, but each year the problem seems to get worse, especially with teenage students. Being a student counsellor I have to deal with these things very often. Earlier it was students skipping classes, then it became text messaging and now a days with internet connected smart phones, students do unimaginable things.
