LearnEnglish Kids newsletter April 2020 Hello and welcome to our April newsletter. We hope that you and your children and/or learners are well. It's a challenging time for parents and teachers, and we've prepared some practical information to support parents who have children learning at home.  Take care and stay safe, The LearnEnglish Kids team COVID-19 SUPPORT FOR PARENTS It's a very difficult time for millions around the world, and we wish all our learners, their parents and teachers the very best. We've got lots of ideas and resources to help you support your child's English learning at home. We hope you find it useful. For teachers, our TeachingEnglish website can help support you with related webinars, lesson plans adapted for online teaching, and more. EASTER Easter is on 12 April this year. What do your learners know about this festival? They can find out more about it with our worksheet and learn Easter vocabulary with our word game and flashcards. And we've got a fun story called 'The great egg hunt' for kids to enjoy. All of these activities are in our Easter topic. Happy Easter!    RAMADAN Ramadan begins on 23 April this year and it's a very special time for Muslims all over the world.  Older children can watch a video called Ramadan begins and then play games online or do a printable activity sheet to check their understanding. You'll find more resources, including some for younger children, in our Ramadan topic. SHAKESPEARE DAY AND WORLD BOOK DAY Shakespeare Day and World Book Day are on 23 April. Shakespeare is one of the most famous writers ever ... but do your learners know any of his stories? We have videos of six of his best-loved plays, along with a biography, in our Shakespeare topic. The videos were created especially for young learners of English.  What sort of books do your children like? In this video they can find out how to make a bookmark to go with their favourite books. Happy World Book Day! Are you aged 13-17? Are you learning English?
