Talking to teenagers in the English language classroom
Join us at 17:00 UK time on 17 January for our first webinar of 2019, with Chris Roland. In this webinar, Talking to teenagers in the English language classroom, we shall look at how to frame whatever it is we want to do with our students - exercises, pair work, skills work, feedback, behaviour - to maximise co-operation and make our classroom a more productive place for everyone.

360 degree Continuing Professional Development
Sandy Millin has been teaching professionally for ten years now, and for eight of those years she's been part of the online teaching community. She reads multiple blogs and writes her own, takes part in Twitter chats relating to teaching and training, and watches and presents webinars. However, she believes the internet is not essential for development, and what teachers really need in order to develop is the ability to reflect on their teaching in a balanced way. Read more about her ideas on professional development.
A Dog Day
This lesson plan for primary-aged learners is designed to be used with the picturebook A Dog Day by Emily Rand. This is a story about a day in the life of a dog, and the dog, an Airedale Terrier, is waiting to go for his daily walk in the park. His owner, however, tests the dog’s patience by taking him on a number of errands before his walk. This is an easy-to-follow story told from the dog's point of view in rhyming couplets. Download the lesson notes and other activity worksheets.
An English action plan for primary, secondary and adult learners
A lot of people make resolutions at the beginning of a new year, and January is a good time for language learners to think about what they can do to maximise their learning in the year ahead. We have an English action plan activity for primary learners here and one for teenagers and adults here.
