LearnEnglish Kids Newsletter
October 2014

Welcome to the latest LearnEnglish Kids newsletter.

AUTUMN

It's now autumn for many people, and children can celebrate by making a fun leaf decoration for the classroom or home, and playing our Nut hunt game

Older kids can write about autumn in their country, or their favourite season, on our Seasons Your turn.

Next month, look out for a new app for iOS called LearnEnglish Kids Playtime! In the app children can watch videos, practise their speaking and play fun spelling games and quizzes. More news next time!

HALLOWEEN!
Halloween is a popular celebration in the UK and around the world. Children will enjoy the Dark, dark wood story, and all our fun Halloween games and activities

Kids can also make our Skeleton craft and sing along to The scary skeleton song!

Older children can write about how they celebrate Halloween and try a worksheet on our Halloween Your turn

Finally, teachers can find a special Halloween lesson plan and Halloween flashcards to use with students in class.

OCTOBER SPECIAL DAYS
October 2 is National Poetry Day in the UK. Our Poem - festivals Your turn has a free downloadable worksheet to help introduce children to writing simple poems. For younger kids, parents can read our article about learning English through sharing rhymes.

October 23-27 is Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, and children can read our Diwali story to learn more about this celebration. Why not encourage them to then add a poem about Diwali to our Poem - festivals Your turn page?

NEW GRAMMAR CONTENT

We have added lots of new free downloadable grammar reference cards, tests and answer sheets to the site, which can be used at home or in class.

Children can print the grammar reference card, read the rules and examples, and write their own examples and text. When they feel confident, they can print and try the short test.

Don't forget the videos, games and quizzes also in the grammar section to help your child have fun practising English grammar.
