Webinar - Adam Simpson - Engaging GenerationY with technology - 28th March 2013, 12pm UK time

English teachers working with young learners recognize that such learners think and behave differently than those from previous generations. Welcome to Generation Y! Whereas Gen-Y has received much attention in the academic literature of many fields, this is not yet the case in ELT research. Adam's workshop addresses this shortcoming by explaining the nature of Gen-Y, while presenting teaching strategies aimed at engaging such learners.
English Teaching Graduate Scheme
                 

This new scheme from the British Council will help unemployed graduates (from the last three years) by subsidising successful applicants to study an intensive or part time Trinity CertTESOL or Cambridge CELTA course at a UK training centre which will give them the necessary basic qualifications to go abroad and work as an English teacher.

Playing Pride and Prejudice

This unit is designed to give students opportunities to explore Pride & Prejudice from a dramatic point of view. In terms of language, it focuses on how the author uses vocabulary to convey subtle meanings.

This lesson is designed to give students opportunities to get acquainted with the main characters in Pride and Prejudice in order to facilitate reading and some deeper analysis of the story. In terms of language, it focuses on word forms, mainly nouns and adjectives, to help students develop their paraphrasing skills.

The British Council is now inviting proposals for the 5th ELT Research Partnership scheme. Through this scheme we aim to promote partnerships between UK and overseas academic institutions, and to encourage and facilitate research that will impact on ELT practice around the world.
