| | | | | | | Happy New Year and welcome to the first TeachingEnglish newsletter of 2012!
We hope you are looking forward to another year's fruitful teaching. 2012 is the bicentenary of the birth of Charles Dickens and a dedicated section of the site provides extra lesson plans, listening exercises and video materials in the run up to the bicentenary of his birth in February.
We are also pleased to announce this year's 'Blogathon', which will get under way on January 16, with teachers from six countries blogging for a month. Even if you don't live in any of the participating, countries why not have a look and get involved in the discussion?
Meanwhile, if you're still looking for some lesson ideas for the start of the year we've got a lesson plan called 'All about me' which gives students the opportunity to do a 'live listening' in class.
Best wishes

 | | Featured blog of the month
| | | | | | The latest featured blog comes from David Petrie, based in Portugal. We enjoyed his series of entries in December, with a rather seasonal title - the 12 days of geekmas. Thankfully David's not singing a geek's version of the famous Christmas song, but does have lots of practical ideas for you to consider. Read more
