Welcome!
Today at TeachingEnglish we are celebrating World Teacher's day and you can follow a special series of tweets from British Council teachers around the world on our twitter feed @teachingenglish.
Also this week we have news of the call for applications for the ELTons 2012 award which every year recognises the value of innovation in English language teaching. As always there's something for you to try in class in the form of a lesson plan on the subject of portraits.
We are pleased to announce a new feature on the site which is the TeachingEnglish blog of the month award. Every month we will be scanning the web for the most interesting an informative blogs about ELT from around the world and will be featuring the best one we find. First up is an excellent blog from Kieran Donaghy called 'Film English'. We hope you like it!
