The theme for 2022 is #BreakTheBias. To celebrate, we have two live events: a Facebook Live Q&A and a webinar on Tuesday 8 March. We also have a number of resources you can use with your primary, secondary and adult students to celebrate, and a podcast epsiode looking at how teachers can ensure their teaching is gender fair. Find out more Women and girls in science In this lesson for teenagers and adults, students read an article about some of the reasons why there are fewer girls and women interested in working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and what's happening to encourage equality in these fields. Students will have a chance to evaluate ways of doing this, as well as reading about alternative approaches. In episode 7, we hear from three ELT writers who contributed articles to the British Council publication 'Integrating global issues in the creative English language classroom'. We then speak to Margarita Kosior about how these ideas can be effectively contextualised in the classroom. Listen The Sustainable Development Goals This lesson plan for primary learners is based on activities from the British Council publication 'Integrating global issues in the creative English language classroom'. Learners discover what each goal means, and decide which ones they think are the most important and why. They also design an icon for one or more of the goals, which they share with the class. March 2022 Hi and welcome to our March newsletter! This month we're celebrating International Women's Day and World Poetry Day. We're sharing some great resources for your children and learners to enjoy, including some videos about some special women of history.  Learn about Boudica International Women's Day International Women's Day is celebrated on 8 March every year, and your learners can find out about some of the most influential women in history with these learning resources. Children can practise reading about Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and watch short videos about suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst and more important women in our British Tales videos. Watch the video World Poetry Day Did you know that there's a special day for poetry? World Poetry Day is on 21 March. Listening to poems is a great way to improve pronunciation and think about different topics. We have 20 fun poems for kids, each with printable activities. For example, this one called 'Senses' helps kids to learn about things they see, smell, hear, touch and taste.
