The TeachingEnglish team | | Engaging with writing – preparing activities | This three-hour self-study training module is divided into three one-hour units. The aim of this module is to analyse what makes writing activities effective and to give practice in preparing effective writing activities. The module identifies sub-skills that lead to good writing, and you will evaluate whether activities focus on accuracy of language or communication of meaning. Available half price in March 2019. | | | Pass the ball is a fun activity for practising adjectives, and all you need is a ball or a screwed up piece of paper. Students sit in a circle and pass the ball, which takes on different characteristics with each round. After the activity, you can also introduce a miming game to consolidate the vocabulary children have used. Finally, students will take part in a discussion about the pros and cons of teenagers working. | | | Differentiation is the spice of life | Are your students at different levels of English? Do they vary in age? Do you find it challenging to meet their diverse needs? In this post, Phil Wade presents and discusses some of the strategies for differentiation that he has explored, together with their pros and cons, based on his own experiences. | | | Our featured article this week focuses on the professional practice 'Planning lessons and courses'. Being able to plan well is one of the key skills that a teacher needs to have.
